Certificate of Authorization

APEGS must be advised of any changes in the particulars of a Certificate of Authorization (C of A) within 30 days after the effective date of the change. Any of the Official Representatives for a C of A have the authority to update any information regarding the C of A.

Changes to a C of A do not automatically update the employer information for individual APEGS members who are employed by the company.

Changing the Address of a C of A

To make address changes to your Certificate of Authorization, first log into your online profile. Next go to “My Profile” and click on “Official Rep – C of A”. From here you can make any address changes required.

Changing the Name of the C of A

To make changes to the name of the Certificate of Authorization, email a copy of the Certificate of Amendment/Amalgamation or any other official documents showing the old name and new name via our Contact Us page. This email must come from an email address on record with APEGS as an Official Representative. In the email you must include the C of A name and registration number.

APEGS will invoice you for $30 (GST included) for a new stamp. The Official Representative who requested the change can pay the invoice through their online profile. The new wall certificate will be mailed, and the seal will be ordered once payment is received.

APEGS will notify the Corporations Branch and Finance Department of Saskatchewan of the change of name.

Adding an Official Representative to a C of A

Only an Official Representative can request these changes.

Removing a Licensed Engineer or Geoscientist from a C of A

An Official Representative can remove anyone from the list by sending an email to APEGS via the Contact Us page from an email address on record in their online profile. An individual can also remove themselves from the list by sending an email to APEGS via the Contact Us page from an email address on record in their online profile.

Changing the Authorized Signing Officer

The Authorized Signing Officer who made the application for the Certificate of Authorization may or may not be designated as one of the Official Representatives. The Authorized Signing Officer is the addressee for the annual fee notices (the name is shown in Address Line 1 in the mailing address for the C of A). For this reason, it is also important to keep the name of the Authorized Signing Officer up to date if they are not an Official Representative.

If the new Authorized Signing Officer is a current Official Representative for the C of A, then they must send an email to APEGS via the Contact Us page from an email address on record in their online profile, requesting that they become the Authorized Signing Officer.

If the new Authorized Signing Officer is not a current Official Representative for the C of A, then a letter can be emailed to APEGS via the Contact Us page, and must include the following details:

  • The name and signature of the new Authorized Signing Officer
  • The name and signature of one of the current Official Representatives
  • The name and registration number of the Certificate of Authorization

Resigning a C of A

To resign a Certificate of Authorization, one of the Official Representatives or the Authorized Signing Officer who applied for the C of A must notify APEGS in writing prior to 5:00 pm, January 31st of the year the renewal would have pertained to. Notice must be sent to APEGS via the Contact Us page from an email address on record with APEGS as an Official Representative or Authorized Signing Officer

What Happens if all Official Representative(s) for a C of A are No Longer Licensed?

At least one Official Representative must be licensed with APEGS for a C of A to remain active. An Official Representative cannot have a licence waiver. It is the responsibility of the Official Representatives or Authorized Signing Officer to ensure that at least one Official Representative is licenced.

If all the Official Representatives have resigned from APEGS, or are ceased for non-payment of annual fees, then the C of A is revoked until there is an Official Representative in place again. If at least one of the Official Representatives reinstates their membership and licence, they are reinstated to their position as Official Representative and the C of A is reactivated.

If all current Official Representatives will not be renewing their licence and there is an APEGS licence holder who will take on the position of Official Representative, one of the recently resigned Official Representatives or the Authorized Signing Officer must submit a notice in writing with signatures. Email a signed letter to APEGS via the Contact Us page.

The letter must include the following information:

  • The name(s) of the new Official Representatives whose duty it is to ensure that the Act and Bylaws are complied with
  • The signature(s) of the new Official Representatives
  • The signature of one of the recently resigned Official Representatives or the Authorized Signing Officer
  • The name and registration number of the Certificate of Authorization
