SES Lectures – CERN Engineering
June 27, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
CERN, the European Organization for Particle Physics (CERN), is home of a large accelerator complex intended to better understand the origin of the universe.
Dr Lüders will give a motivation on particle physics and the physicist’s “standard model”, and short intro into building an accelerator yourself, and a deep-dive in the engineering challenges in constructing the LHC, the Large Hadron Collider—the worlds largest particle accelerator, and its experiments.
Stefan Lüders, PhD graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and joined the European Organization for Particle Physics (CERN) in 2002.
Since 2009, he is heading the CERN Computer Security Incident Response Team as CERN’s Computer Security Officer with the mandate to coordinate all aspects of CERN’s computer security – office computing security, computer centre security, GRID computing security and control system security – whilst taking into account CERN’s operational needs.
