Event Summary: Measuring Carbon in Buildings – There is lots of talk currently about Zero Carbon Buildings. In this presentation Kelly will discuss why this matters, what it means, and how we show that a building could become a Zero Carbon Building. Topics will include embodied carbon, operational carbon, emissions factors, carbon measurement, standards, and strategies related to carbon reduction. We will also look at some of the tools and strategies that can help quantify the greenhouse gas impacts of both new and existing buildings.
Kelly Winder, P.Eng.– is a principal at Crosier Kilgour in charge of energy modelling. He has over three decades of experience, including 7 years with the Saskatchewan Research Council as a building scientist, and is an ASHRAE Building Energy Modelling Professional. Kelly’s expertise includes building energy modelling, renewable energy system modelling, and building envelope analysis. Kelly is a board member of the SES Solar Co-op in Saskatoon.
