The Professional Edge and K-12 Committees are pleased to announce an exciting new joint pilot project to promote engineering and geoscience careers to young people.
Two editions of the magazine will be produced with appropriate content for different age groups – grades 6-8 and grades 10-12.
The magazines will be distributed through the schools. The content will be produced in consultation with curriculum advisors. During the pilot project stage, the Professional Edge Committee will also consult closely with school division science consultants to ensure that the magazine meets the needs of teachers and students.
We need your help!
APEGS would like to invite our members to help us make this project as successful as possible.
First, if you know of any young people who might be interested in the magazine, let us know which age range they are in and how many copies you would like. The grades 6-8 edition will be available in the fall of 2017 and the grades 10-12 edition will be available in early 2018.
Second, we need ideas for a name! “Young Edge” is only the working title. We are looking for suggestions for a name that will be catchy and exciting for young people and that conveys the sense of engineering and geoscience or science in general. (The title does not need to include the word “Edge”).
Send your orders for copies and suggestions for names to: saugust@apegs.ca
