Town Hall Meetings


APEGS Council has unanimously approved proposed changes to the Continuing Professional Development Program and to the Engineer-in-Training experience reporting process to online Competency-Based Assessment.  These enhancements require changes to the Regulatory Bylaws that must be ratified by the members present at the 2018 Annual Business Meeting being held in Saskatoon on May 5, 2018. 14 Town Hall meetings were held in 12 locations from January to March 2018. Approximately 650 or 10% of Saskatchewan-based members attended. These are the locations we visited:
Coronach, Estevan, Humboldt, Lloydminster, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Weyburn, Yorkton.

Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Update

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Update

The second topic discussed at the Town Hall meetings was the proposed new CPD Program.  APEGS is seeking to implement a required CPD Program in which all APEGS members and licensees would be required to participate.  In summary, the changes would be:

  • Reporting 80 CPD credits per year (30 for licence waiver holders). There will be no more 3 year rolling total of 240 credits (90 for licence waiver holders)
  • Ability to bank excess credits earned for a 2 year period
  • Annual ethics refresher training
  • Required reporting annually
  • Ability to request a variation to the CPD requirements
  • Compliance review process
